The Mission of GWFW
To provide spiritual healing, moral support, and community reintegration for veterans through faith-based outreach and partnerships with local churches
God’s Word for Warriors (GWFW) exists to help veterans and their families heal from the moral and spiritual wounds associated with service-related hardships. They seek to improve post-deployment outcomes by supporting veterans and dependents as they reintegrate with faith-based resources tailored to their unique needs. They also strive to equip civilians and church communities to better serve this population, which makes up about 16.2 million people in the U.S., according to US census date (2024).
GWFW began as a course for veteran students in higher education (2016) and has evolved into a 501c3 organization that serves veterans wherever they may be on their journey. They now offer veteran-specific spiritual care programs, peer mentorship, church engagement resources, small-group curriculum, and trauma-informed ministry training.

"Returning from combat is hard; transitioning back into a civilian role is harder. Dr. Seals eloquently tackles the very real issues today's veterans face after service."
Bryan Flannery, SGT, US Army | GWFW Student

The Why of GWFW
Within the U.S., suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death
Between 19-22 veterans take their own life each day
Research shows many suicides are tied to previous trauma and hardships not resolved
It is the vision of GWFW that the United States be a nation where every veteran has access to spiritual care, moral guidance, and a supportive faith community that honors their sacrifice and service.
According to the Veteran's Administration research, 70% of veterans desire spiritual care as part of their post-traumatic stress (PTS) treatment and acknowledge that faith and spirituality play an important role in healing. Unfortunately, only 1 in 5 churches offer veteran-tailored ministries that serve this need.
"God's Word for Warriors is a succinct and comprehensive resource for a reintegrating veteran. I would have loved to had this resource as I was returning home. As a deployed combat medic, I felt a sense of hypocrisy and difficulty articulating how to defend my position as a maturing Christian. This program helps a veteran like me understand that we can wield a weapon and simultaneously preserve life in war. We can return home with honor, morally and spiritually."
Jacob Schultz, SGT, US Army National Guard Medic

Join the Mission
Partnerships with the faith community is essential to the success of GWFW
GWFW strives to equip faith-based corporations (including accredited colleges) and local churches that desire to minister to the veteran population.
Individuals can participate by sharing GWFW resources with veterans in their community or by becoming course leaders, utilizing the GWFW curriculum to create a peer-supported small group.
Churches and faith-based organizations can partner with GWFW to provide for veterans in their community, train course leaders, offer spaces for veterans to meet, and by nurturing an accepting, understanding culture that helps veterans and their families heal.
Individuals and faith-based groups can also offer financial support, which helps fund operational expenses, develop new courses, and offer services to veterans at no or little cost to them.
